Ingredients

  • 1 cup sesame seeds
  • 3T neutral flavored oil (I use avocado oil)
  • 1/4tsp salt
  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 1 large lemon
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons water
  • Dash ground paprika

Tahini Directions

  1. In a large pan, on medium heat, toast the sesame seeds until lightly browned and fragrant.
  2. Let cool and then add to a food processor
  3. Blend for a minute
  4. Add 3T avocado oil to and process for another minute
  5. It should be smooth and not gritty. If gritty, continue to process and add more oil if necessary.

Hummus Directions

  1. Combine Tahini and lemon juice and whip in food processor for a minute
  2. Add avocado oil, cumin, and salt and whip for another minute
  3. Open, drain and rinse the can of chickpeas and then add half of it to the food processor and whip for another minute
  4. Add the remainder of the chickpeas and whip for another minute. Slowly add water (or Aquafaba) whipping until desired consistency is achieved.
  5. Scrape the sides of the food processor with a spatula and whip again to make sure it is creamy!
  6. Top with oil and paprika
